Hamburgers-Grilling

I never thought of needing a recipe for hamburgers. When I started making these, I just threw in some stuff I had to make the hamburger taste better. I know I just mentioned I don't just use a little of this and a little of that in my last post, but I guess I do. We made hamburgers this weekend and I got more comments about how good they were, so I thought I would share what I do. First, never ever used frozen hamburgers patties, when you can make your own so much better! Take out your package of thawed hamburger. Throw it in a bowl. Then add bread crumbs (The plain flavor you buy at the store in the can. Don't make your own. for one pound of hamburger-use about 1/2 to 3/4 cup of this) dried minced onion (can use fresh-chopped) salt & pepper hamburger seasoning if you have it BBQ seasoning if you have it garlic season-all Your favorite BBQ sauce. About 1/2 cup. (I like KC Masterpiece Original) I would put amounts but I don't know and it doesn't matter if you u...

Tuna Pasta Salad

So the other day we had Grandma and Great Grandma Reeve over for dinner. We had potato salad and Randy says "Mom, I remember that tuna pasta thing you used to make and I loved it!" I'm thinking really a dish my husband loves, I want the recipe." You know the whole-The way to a man's heart is through his stomach. So I ask Kay and I get, Oh you know a little of this a little of that. "Oh, Yeah I love those recipes!" I am so, an exact measure in cooking, person. So I made this yesterday with a little of this and a little of that. 1 pkg. pasta (small shells or macaroni) 1 can tuna about1 cup Mayo (I used light, don't tell Randy) 2-3 tbsp. mustard (I really love the mustard with horseradish) **English Accent-Could you pass the Grey Poupon -Makes it** 2 stalks celery-chopped 1/2-1 cup lettuce-chopped 1/2-3/4 cup relish-homemade zucchini if you have it! spices (I just threw in some salt, pepper, season-all) While your pasta is cooking in the bowl mix all ...

Egg Puff Casserole

This looks like another version of German Pancakes. I am trying this on the weekend. 1/4 cup butter 12 eggs 1/2 cup all-purpose flour 1 tsp. baking powder 2 cups cottage cheese 4 cups shredded Monterey Jack Cheese Preheat oven to 350. Place the butter in a 9X13 baking dish and put dish in oven to melt. In a blender add eggs, flour and baking powder. Cover and blend until smooth, about 1 min. Pour into a large bowl and fold in the cottage cheese and Monterey Jack cheese. Pour over the melted butter in the dish. Bake until firm about 30 minutes. Adding diced ham or cooked crumbled sausage to this recipe makes it even more delicious. This was really good and not at all like german pancakes. I made it with sausage and it was good with maple syrup poured over the top. A lot cheesy, so not too healthy, but really Good.

Whole Wheat Pancakes

This recipe is from The America's Test Kitchen Family Cookbook (which I just ordered) I made them this morning and they were really good. I love whole wheat blender pancakes, but the kids complain about crunchy things. I like how this recipe makes the pancakes fluffy, not heavy. It was also very quick to mix these few ingredients. I already had some whole wheat ground and added the rest. I did 1/2 recipe for two kids and me. It was the perfect amount. If you have a great mother who mailed you Montana-Wild Huckleberry Jam-Eat it with that or just use syrup. - 2 cups whole wheat flour - 2 TBSP. sugar - 2 tsp. baking powder - 1/2 tsp. baking soda - 1/2 tsp. salt - 1 large egg - 3 TBSP. butter melted - 2 C buttermilk (or 2 C regular milk with 1 T lemon juice added, let sit for a few minutes) Whisk together dry ingredients. In a separate bowl, whisk egg and butter, then buttermilk. Make a well in dry ingredients, add wet into well, whisk very gently until incorporated. Don’t ove...

Hummus & Fire Oil Recipes

I am adding this so I have a link for a hummus recipe that I like. I made it with the walnuts but now that I have successfully made tahini and it is not that hard, I will do that in the future. I also like the Fire Oil and will keep that on hand and use in other dishes for taste. So, here it is from 101 Cookbooks site.

Best Barbecued Beans on the Planet

My friend Jodi gave me this recipe today. Her husband makes it and they shared it. It smells and tastes really good so far. We are having it for dinner with some bbq pork ribs. It is alot of ingredients and alot of chopping. It helps if you had jalepenos in your garden and you spent one day chopping and seeding a whole bunch and froze them. It is still worth all the work for these great beans! Serves:12-16 1 pound smoked brisket or bacon cut into 1/4-inch slivers 1 can (15 ounces) black beans 1 can (15 ounces) dark red kidney beans 3 cans (each 15 ounces) baked beans or pork and beans 1 large sweet onion, finely chopped 1 red bell pepper, cored, seeded, and finely chopped 1 green bell pepper, seeded and finely chopped 4 cloves garlic, minced 3 to 6 jalepeno peppers, seeded and diced 2 cups sweet red barbecue sauce (your favorite commercial brand) 1 1/2 cups firmly packed light brown, or more to taste 1/2 cup dijon mustard, or more to taste 2 teaspoons liquid smoke Course salt (Kosher o...
