Pizza Hut Style Pizza Dough
All right get out your bread makers. Mine has been in a cabinet behind a bunch of paper towels. I make bread by hand lately so I don't use it. This recipe I wanted to try so I pulled it out. Bread machines are awesome. I have made pizza dough by hand and this was amazingly easy.
I got this off http://www.momadvice.com/
1 1/3 cups water
2 tsp sugar
1 1/4 tsp salt
2 Tbsp olive oil
2 Tbsp cornmeal
3 1/4 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp onion powder
1 1/2 tsp yeast
Add ingredients to bread machine, according to manufacturer's settings, and run dough setting. After the machine beeps, roll out the dough. You can roll the dough into two 9x13" pizzas (great for kid's lunches!) or into two medium pizzas or a large pizza and an order of bread sticks. Prebake the crust with a drizzle of olive oil on it at 450 degrees for ten minutes. Remove the crust and add sauce and toppings. If making bread sticks, add your bread sticks at this time. Place into the oven for another ten minutes or until golden and bubbly.
Bread sticks, I drizzle a little olive oil on top, and sprinkle with dried parsley and garlic salt.
Pizza Sauce
Top the pizza with a can of crushed tomatoes, which had been simmering on the stove for about fifteen-twenty minutes. Add a little salt, a pinch of sugar, and a little dried oregano to the sauce. Top the pizza with part of it and then used the rest as our dipping sauce. I like this one more than the one below. :)
Here is another pizza sauce recipe: (This is the one I used last night)
Yummy Pizza Sauce
2 cans tomato paste
2 cups water
1 teaspoon oregano
1 teaspoon Italian dried seasonings
1 teaspoon garlic powder
Salt & pepper to taste
Bring the mixture up to a simmer and cook for twenty minutes. Allow mixture to cool before pouring on top of the pizza.
I made this last night and the kids and dad and friends loved it. I didn't have the cornmeal so I am going to get some and try it again. It can only get better.
Tip: I saw this on the website, but she makes up four Ziploc bags filled with all the dry ingredients to make her pizzas. She writes the wet ingredients to add on the bags and she has pizza night every Friday. I thought this was a great idea. Also she says buying bread flour, white flour, yeast and other bread ingredients at Costco or Sam's club for great prices. I love bread flour but don't use it that often because of the cost at the store. I usually buy bulk white flour during case lot sales and store in plastic bags in big buckets with lids. Now I can do the same with bread flour and love the yeast price she mentioned. Worth checking out.
